What you should know about IAPP the CIPM exam and certification
CIPM is one of the certifications issued by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). It equips professionals with in-depth knowledge about privacy, helps organizations protect their data effectively, and gives privacy practitioners an edge in their career. This article will provide you with information about the exam and how to get an IAPP CIPM certification.
What You Should Expect In The Exam
There are a total of 90 multiple choice questions, and some of the questions are scenario-based. You will have 2.5 hours to answer all questions. For each question, you are to select the correct answer from a list of four plausible options. Also, there may be questions that may require you to choose the most appropriate answer from a list of correct answers. You will need to have an in-depth understanding of the elements covered in the Body of Knowledge to answer most of it correctly.
Furthermore, you may come across questions that are not covered by the official text material, so we advise that you acquaint yourself with the latest information, updates, and trends in the privacy world. Each of the questions has the same value, and are scored as either correct or incorrect. There is no negative marking in the exam; we advise that you attempt all since any unanswered questions will get zero scores.
On average, you must score about 65 – 80% to pass the exam and get qualified. You will get your results immediately you complete the exam.
CIPM Exam Cost
The CIPM Exam costs $550. If you are retaking the test after a prior attempt, you will pay only $375. You are required to make payment before scheduling the test.
CIPM Certification Cost
The CIPM membership fee costs $250, and the payment covers you for two years. The fee is called the Certification Maintenance Fee (CMF). You can either pay for CMF when making payment for your test or pay it after you have passed. You won’t receive the certificate if you don’t pay the CMF.
Can I Reschedule my CIPM Exam?
Yes, you can reschedule as many times as possible. If you decide to reschedule, you must do it at least 48 hours before the exam date to avoid forfeiture of your fee.
